Joe Smelter
Joe Smelter brings over 37 years of government service and 31 years as a sworn peace officer to every AZOWA engagement. His career encompasses the full spectrum of law enforcement leadership — from complex criminal investigations and internal affairs to a leadership role within a law enforcement technology bureau.
Formally recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as a subject matter expert, Joe has served in professional standards oversight, community programs leadership, and crowd and event management. He has led investigations of the highest sensitivity and provided expert witness testimony in major proceedings.
His experience extends to site and infrastructure security consulting, providing comprehensive assessments and protective measures advisory to both government and private sector clients.
